FRAMEWORKS
United Communities as a Framework
United Communities is not only an organization or a collection of programs. It is a framework for how care, partnership, and responsibility are practiced in real life.
Rather than relying on fixed models or one-size-fits-all approaches, United Communities operates as a living framework shaped by lived experience, story, and reflection. Meaning is not left at the level of intention or metaphor; it is translated into how decisions are made, how relationships are built, and how systems of care are designed.
This framework centers collective care over competition, relationship over hierarchy, and dignity over charity. People are engaged as whole human beings rather than categories, and those most impacted by systems are recognized as essential holders of knowledge.
United Communities functions as a framework because it is designed to adapt. It evolves through practice, reflection, and community voice, allowing the work to remain responsive while staying ethically grounded.
United Communities’ framework is part of an ongoing body of work that is currently being developed and documented. More detailed articulation of this framework, including its structure and methods, is forthcoming.
Expressive Arts Framework
Expressive arts is one way the United Communities framework takes shape in practice.
United Communities’ expressive arts work is guided by a participant-centered framework that emphasizes care, consent, responsiveness, and lived experience. This framework shapes how creative support is offered and how expressive work takes form over time.
Our expressive arts practices are grounded in relationship rather than outcome. They are designed to meet individuals where they are and to support expression in ways that feel authentic, accessible, and meaningful to the person.

Participant-Centered Expressive Works & Creative Support
This page shares selected examples of creative work developed through United Communities’ expressive arts practices. These works offer a glimpse into how individualized, participant-centered creative support can take shape in practice.
All music, poetry, writing, and digital projects shared here are created through collaborative expressive arts work and are tailored to the individual. Each creation reflects the participant’s needs, voice, goals, and preferred forms of expression at the time the work was created.
There are no templates or standardized outputs. Every piece emerges from a unique creative process and relationship, shaped by care, listening, and responsiveness.
No artistic experience is required. There is no right or wrong way to express.
Work is shared only with participant consent. Identifying details may be limited to protect privacy and dignity.
Evolution Art
Creative Practice
Evolution Art is a creative practice used within United Communities’ expressive arts work. It is grounded in intentional listening and collaboration, allowing the creative process to respond to what a person’s heart, mind, body, and spirit are seeking to express — across any medium.
Rather than beginning with a fixed form, each piece evolves through relationship, intuition, and reflection. The focus is on supporting expression, growth, and meaning-making in ways that feel authentic and true to the individual.
Evolution Art does not require artistic skill or prior experience. Individuals are invited simply with a desire to express themselves or their stories, while the creative process adapts to meet them where they are.
Our Definition of Art
In our work, art is anything that helps people express themselves. There is no single way to create, no required medium, and no limitations on how expression shows up.
Art can look like music, poetry, writing, coloring, or visual design. It can also look like working on a car, designing a website, telling a story, problem-solving, building something with your hands, or using digital tools — including AI — as a form of expression.
What matters is not the medium, but the meaning and outlet it provides for the person expressing themselves.
