The populations we encounter that reflect a cultural diversity, consisting of new immigrant families, multilingual individuals, and those encountering various barriers to accessing care and services.
Breaking down stigma with community engagement and collaboration. One of the ways we have done this is by engaging multilingual community members and inviting them to join our efforts. We ask if they’re interested in participating and provide them with an opportunity to translate Narcan/Naloxone window clings appropriately. Multilingual community members play a crucial role in this process, bringing back the information to their families and friends.
We currently have: “Narcan Saves Lives. We have NarcanĀ® (naloxone) on-site. Call 911 if you suspect an overdose” window clings in 16 different languages.
As the Community Navigator, David serves as the primary distributor of United Communities naloxone. With over seven years of experience, he has cultivated relationships and formed collaborative partnerships within the communities we serve. David has been actively providing overdose education and distributing naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and other harm-reduction materials. During his outreach visits, he identifies recipients of naloxone, gives them culturally appropriate and accessible overdose prevention training, and equips them with naloxone kits and additional harm reduction materials. David prioritizes establishing strong relationships within the community and encourages them to report back if they use their naloxone or require further assistance.
We engage with businesses, religious organizations, and community agencies to disseminate information about our services.
